Here at Encore we strongly advise girls to wear these shoes 6 months prior to starting pointe work.  The shoes help strengthen the intrinsic muscles in the feet and arch and strengthen the ankles and legs.  It also gets the foot used to working in a confined space as opposed to normal flat ballet shoes.  It makes girls more likely to cope with pointe work better.
